Sean Crossland (left) and David Lee are still smiling after
two hard days effort baiting, deploying and retrieving cards from our tracking
tunnel network in the Rimutaka Forest Park.
Sean is the team leader for the tracking tunnel project, which began in
2007. On the last day of
our quarterly monitoring programme, we
pick up the remainder of the monitoring cards and bring them back for
analysis.

RFPT Volunteers, Sean Crossland and Paul Howard, are shown here assembling and deploying the first of our tracking tunnels in the Upper Turere Valley area of the Rimutaka Forest Park. We need to know more about what other creatures and critters are sharing the habitat with our recently released Kiwis, so these tracking tunnels should soon provide us with all the necessary evidence.
